Retford Library Family History Group

Hosted by Retford (Denman) Library and fronted by Greg Herdman and Barbara Swannack the Group builds on their experiences of running similar groups within Clarborough & Welham IT Group.

This Group benefits not only from the skills of IT Group members and Retford Library staff but also draw on extremely valuable resources that are specific to our Library. All Nottinghamshire Libraries, for example, have subscriptions to the full, worldwide, data sets of Group members will simply require a current library card to make use of this resource completely free of charge.

Besides other online resources, the library has, of course, representative sets of paper documents, microfilm and micro fiche resources together with the equipment to access these universal archive resources. The group will aim to give members the skills to make use of larger archives developed in the compact and friendly environment of Retford Library.

Group meetings at Retford Library are usually on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. If you are interested in joining the group, or just coming along to get a feel of our meetings, then please come along or contact either Retford Library or Greg Herdman.

All sessions run from 17:00 - 19:00 and are completely free.

Note: Retford Library is currently closed for a major refurbishment programme that will last until early Spring, 2020.

The Family History Group also does not meet during the holiday month of August nor during Bank Holidays.
